New SNTP
Network Time
Support
Exciting news!
We have some exciting news to
tell you about an added feature for the Vidicode
products.
As off today, our engineers have added time server
support (SNTP) to most of our products.
So what is it?
Especially for Call Recording equipment, it is
very important to have calls stored with the exact time.
Of course, all Vidicode products already have a digital
clock that will keep the date and time for your
recordings. However if for some reason the clock is
incorrect like when you forget to adjust for summer /
winter time your recordings will also have an incorrect
time. As most recorders nowadays are connected to a
network you can configure the recorder to automatically
adjust the clock using the Network Time Protocol (NTP)
that has become an industry standard.
NTP and SNTP?
NTP servers can often be found on the local
computer network but also as public servers that you can
use all over the internet. SNTP stands for Simple
Network Time Protocol and is the protocol used to
communicate wit the NTP server. By properly configuring
an NTP server setup in your Call Recorder or Fax Server
the time and date will be checked several times a day
and if needed automatically corrected. If you are
located in an area where daylight time saving time is
used the units will automatically adjust to the summer
and or winter time.
How can I get it?
The NTP time server
support will be shipped as standard with all current
products.
